De REFORM-wiki contains three main parts: know-how (case studies), knowledge and evaluation (tools) that are all interlinked as shown in the figure below. In practice this means:

* Every river restoration case study contains links to the WFD hydro-morphological quality elements; WFD biological quality elements; pressures and measures relevant for that case study.

* Every listed pressure under :Category:Pressures shows all the case studies where that pressure has impact.

* Every listed restoration measure under :Category:Measures shows all the case studies where that measure is applied.

* Every tool listed is linked to the WFD Hydro-morphological and WFD Biological quality elements in HYMOQE and BQE.

REFORM River Restoration Wiki

Hydromorphology and river restoration

Flowing water, inundation, erosion, sedimentation ... These are key processes for river and floodplain ecosystems form the realm of hydromorphology. Yet the European Water Framework Directive pays little attention to hydromorphological processes. That is why the European Commission funded the REFORM project for improving the success of hydromorphological restoration measures. This wiki presents the results.

Why this wiki?

Successful river restoration calls for understanding the complex systems of hydromorphology and ecology. Processes operate at different scales, different disciplines play a role, and different species depend on hydromorphology in different ways. River restoration practitioners face the challenge of finding their way in this complexity when developing an integrated design. This wiki provides them with guidance. It structures the information along the different stages of restoration projects and river basin management plans. It offers quick access to key information, with links to deeper background information ranging from case-study experiences to scientific publications.
The REFORM wiki is work in progress. It is filled as the deliverables of the REFORM project become available during the period 2012-2015. We are currenly working to improve our landing pages for the Wiki. Below two landing pages in progress:

The REFORM web-based tool is a knowledge and information system relating hydromorphology and ecology of European rivers and has been developed as part of the projects REFORM and FORECASTER funded by the European Commission, IWRM-Net and Delft Cluster.

Disclaimer

This web-based tool is an online open-content repository of information about river restoration experiences. Its structure allows anyone with an Internet connection and World Wide Web browser to alter its contents. Therefore, the FORECASTER consortium does not take responsibility for the veracity and completeness of the information entered in the WIKI pages, nor is liable for the use that third parties may give to this information.
