REFORM River Restoration Wiki (Main page under contruction!)
Welcome to the REFORM River Restoraion Wiki, a knowledge tool that addresses the challenges to reach the ecological objectives for rivers as required by the EU Water Framework Directive. The contents is available through the menu (left) or through the links on this main page.
The REFORM wiki is filled as the deliverables of the REFORM project become available during the period 2012-2015.
Knowledge for river restoration
The categories below contain links to key knowledge fields in the wiki.
Hydrology and morphology Information on the hydromorphological indicators for the WFD. |
Biological Quality The biological quality elements of the WFD. |
River Characterisation A Multi-scale Hierarchical Framework for River Characterisation that facilitates River Restoration planning. | |
Pressures The main hydromorphological pressures affecting European freshwater systems, with links to example case-studies. |
Measures Information on sixty restoration and rehabilitation measures with links to example case-studies. |
Ecosystem Services (ES) Description of ES in river environments. (Under construction). |
EU Directives Description of the main EU directives and information sources. (Under construction). |
Case studies
The case studies presented are a compilation of examples of river restoration and rehabilitation projects describing the effect that given measures may have on the hydro-morphology and ecology of different water bodies. These examples are intended to provide practitioners with valuable information about the applicability of different measures.
River restoration measures (case studies) A showcase of international case studies of river restoration measures mitigating pressures on river systems. |
Tools for river restoration (planning and design)
Tools for river restoration planning and design A collection of tools for river restoration planning and design. Sub categories are Hydro-morphological Assessment methods and Hydromorphological models. |
Linking Case studies, Knowledge and Tools
De REFORM-wiki contains three main parts: knowledge, case studies and tools that are all interlinked. This means in practise:
- Every restoration measure case study contains links to the WFD hydro-morphological quality elements; WFD biological quality elements; pressures and measures relevant for that case study.
Contribute to the restoration wiki
Everybody is encouraged to contribute to the system. Any information that complements the existing categories is very welcome. Information for new case studies can be sent to any of the partners of REFORM(Contact information) to be reviewed.

How to edit the wiki-pages?
General information about how to work with the wiki language can be found in the World Wide Web. Some useful references are:
Particular instructions about how to add information to the systems are provided in the User's Manual:
The REFORM web-based tool is a knowledge and information system relating hydromorphology and ecology of European rivers and has been developed as part of the projects REFORM and FORECASTER funded by the European Commission, IWRM-Net and Delft Cluster.
Disclaimer
This web-based tool is an online open-content repository of information about river restoration experiences. Its structure allows anyone with an Internet connection and World Wide Web browser to alter its contents.
