    Site description

    Loss of lateral connectivity due to streambank elevation for flood protection. Previous to the restoration project
    Absence of riparian corridor

    Measures selection

    The project aimed to compensate the flood protection constructions by improving and creating the riparian vegetation.
    the measures include:

    • Removal of sediments and waste from the river channel
    • Silvicultural treatments (sowing and plantation of native species)
    • Morphological recovery at some channel reaches

    Extra background information

    The fertile floodplain is used for irrigation crops, including cultivated beetroot, alfalfa, corn and fruit trees. Also cereal can be found in the lands of the Paramo and formerly the vineyard was very important, but rare actually.
