The project aimed to compensate the flood protection constructions by improving and creating the riparian vegetation.

Extra background information
The fertile floodplain is used for irrigation crops, including cultivated beetroot, alfalfa, corn and fruit trees. Also cereal can be found in the lands of the Paramo and formerly the vineyard was very important, but rare actually.
