Guidelines Forecaster GeoWIKI on adding Case studies to the WIKI

Introduction

This document is supposed to serve as a guide for adding new projects to the Wiki.

Adding a new project

When adding a new project first go to the project Database page. here you will find link(s) to the database templates for filling in the required information for the factsheets.

The database contains the basic background information (classifications) for a project, e.g.

  • general information
  • geographic location
  • river typology
  • pressures
  • measures
  • size, costs, etc.

This project template has to be filled in order to display the project on the ‘Case Studies’ map in the Wiki and to find it using the filter option on the map.

The database template contains a button get WIKI start code for project page. You can copy-paste this code into the project WIKI page when it is first created (see below).

Adding a WIKI page for the project

When the project has been entered in the database, navigate to the page ‘Case Studies’ and try to find the project on the map by zooming in to its location.
When the project- icon is clicked, a popup box appears with some general information:

Click on the View project wiki page to navigate to the project page. When first navigating to a page that doesn't exist yet, the link will take you to the edit page for the new article. Simply type your text, click save and the new page will be created.

A good and easy way to start a project page is pasting the automatically generated WIKI start code (see above) into the editor.

Formatting the map on the project page

The wiki editor contains an extension to create and modify a map based on Google Maps File:Button. By clicking on it an 'Editors Map' will appear where you choose and change different map settings.

After editing the map, paste the generated google maps tag code into (the top of the) page:

<googlemap version="0.9" lat="50.958913" lon="5.729713" zoom="15" scale="yes" overview="yes" controls="large" >
(A) 50.959292, 5.723748, Meers lake
 test [[lakes]]
 </googlemap >
